RE: catskills area

I have heard some great reviews recently about Rip Van Winkle. We stayed at KOA near there recently and decided we would try Rip Van Winkle next time. My huband took a drive through the campground and said it looked pretty nice compared to the KOA we were staying at. The people at the office were nice and did not mind giving out info and taking a drive through. I hear it is very rustic.

White Mountains, NH

We just got back from our week long trip to the White Mountains in New Hampshire. It is a very beautiful area. We stayed at Moose Hillock Campground, we had a great site, probably one of the best in the campground. The camground was nice, enjoyed our stay but would probably try something different if we went back to that area. We took the drive up Mt Washington which was quite an experience. All in all we had yet another great trip and can't wait to take another one!!!

RE: Ok Need comments again before I make my choice

Go with the slide or you will be sorry!!! The slide makes a trailer feel so much roomier! Our first trailer did not have a slide and we only kept it for a season. If it is raining or cold out and you want to spend some time on the trailer it is real cramped without the slide!!!!

RE: Amish Country PA area campgrounds

We have been to Lake in the Wood twice and love it. They have great wooded sites and many of them now have a concrete pad which is a plus!

RE: Otter Lake Camp Resort - PA

No you can't just go for a weekend. I tried many times last summer and never got in. They had told us if we call last minute and they happen to have a site then they will book it for the weekend but that never happened. That is the only campground I know of like that.

RE: I want to make the rite choice Lake George?

You cannot go wrong with either in them, I have been to both. If your kids are into planned activities Lake George RV Park does not have them. I have been to Lake George Escape twice and love it there also. They have lots of planned activities and a great bar/grill.

RE: Campsites with Lakes near Mohnton, PA ?

Just go back from Lake in the Wood from an 8 night stay and I cannot think of one negative thing to say about it. It is a real nice campground, one of the nicest we have stayed at!

RE: Lancaster, PA

We were just there the week of July 21st and saw stands. We did buy it because how can you not eat corn while camping where they grow it. I was very dissapointed, it was not sweet at all. I think maybe it was still early for the corn season. As fas as the area it has gotten more commercialized. I have been visiting since I was a kid but I still love it.

RE: Have you heard or seen this in campgrounds?

That is very common up here in the northeast. It is not cheap. It can run $1400 plus for a week in the summer. My brother rented one July 4th weekend at a campground in upstate NY and it cost $160/night.

RE: Cooperstown campground

I would not suggest Jellystone Cooperstown. We were there for July 4th and I was not impressed!!

Refrigerator in travel trailer

Hi Everyone, Just a curious question-When we travel we usually plug our fridge in 24 hours prior, load it up with food and while on the road the fridge runs on the gas. When we arrive at the campground the fridge will then run on the electric. A friend of ours just bought a travel trailer, also a sunset creek and the dealer told him not to run the gas on the fridge while traveling because there has been some incidents of fires. Anyone have any feedaback on this? Thanks!

RE: Mt Pocono Campground

We were there twice last season. The campground is clean and orderly. It is bascially set on a big hill. There are some pull through sites at the bottom of the hill. The owners are nice and enfore rules. There is a lot to do in the area which is good because the campground itself could get kind of boring after a couple of days. It is defintely not for bike riding if you are into that. There is a great flea market on the weekends and buskill falls is nice.

RE: question about camping...What do you think???

That is just rude! I have seen people use the yellow caution tape to block people from walking through a site! Recently we were camping lake front and the people across the way who were not lake front did not seem to have a problem coming to our site to fish and think nothing of it. If you wanted to fish from your site you should of reserved a lakefront site!!!!

RE: Lancaster PA/Amish Country

We are also going with my 5 year old leaving on 7/18 for 8 nights. I love this area there is so much to do. The toy train musuem is also fun. We went there last fall and they have a bunch of train sets to view that you can turn on/off, make the horns beep etc. My son keeps asking if we are going again. Have fun! The Green Dragon flea market on Friday's is also great, get there early it can be packed. You can find lots of great things.

Bent Axle

We took our trailer in for unusual tire wear and found out it is a bent axle. How does this happen? Our trailer is brand new and have only took it out three times. The dealer is replacing it but just curious on how this happens. Thanks

RE: Adirondack Campgrounds

Since you have two young girls I would suggest Lake George Escape. The have planned activites through the day where Lake George RV Park does not. Lake George RV park is great but not aimed toward younger children.

Thanks for the response. It is actually going back to the dealer this afternoon. We have a week long trip planned in less than two weeks.
